Our trip to Hatton Country World

W/C 24/01/2022 - In Year 2 this week we went on a trip to the Canal to look for clues that tell us a canal is manmade. We discovered it was very straight and the sides were made from concrete and brick. We then compared a canal and a river in our geography lesson. In PE we have been having fun learning a new dance. We are getting very good at remembering and performing the moves.

W/C: 17/01/2022 - In Year 2 we are studying Defeat the Baddie texts in English. We have compared Supertato and Traction Man. We are learning to write in the past tense. In maths Apple class are learning about fractions. Our geography this term will be looking at our local area. We have started by learning about some different geographical features and whether they are human features (manmade) or physical features (made by nature).

W/C 06/12/2021: Science - Santa's elves needed help to make new wrapping paper. They needed strong paper that wouldn't rip on Santa's sleigh. We investigated which paper was the strongest by seeing how many marbles it could hold before ripping. Design and Technology - We have been learning to make moving toys. We have made toy fire engines. The fire engines can move because they have wheels which we attached using axles. We have also been choosing the best materials to create all of the accessories a fire engine needs. R.E. - We went on a trip to St Laurence's church to hear the Christmas story and some Christmas songs. They read us a story called 'The Christmas Promise' which was all about the birth of Jesus.

W/C 30/11/2021: We have been making Christingles.
