Dol-y-Moch October 2024

Day 3- Water and Rock day!

A final exciting and busy day!

Both groups enjoyed a trip to Borth y Gest where we enjoyed clambering and sliding over rocks. We took part in individual and team challenges in and over all the rocks.

Another highlight was kayaking on the pool at Dol-y-Moch. Everyone was taught to use kayaks and paddles correctly and used their skills to play team games. To finish off, everyone had the opportunity to complete the famous Dol-y-Moch dive!!

The evening was spent at the tuck shop and clearing up! An early night for everyone so we are ready for the long journey home tomorrow!

See you in Coventry!

Day 2- Orienteering and Beach Day

Another brilliant day completed and the rain didn’t stop us! After a good night’s sleep and a filling breakfast, we began our day around the Dol-y-Moch grounds using orienteering skills to find numbered posts. We practised in the grounds and then travelled to a local nature reserve for an independent walk around Llyn Mair.

After lunch, we headed to the beach at Criccieth. Here we went into the rock pools to search for crabs and other marine organisms. We then walked through the sea to Cadwalders Ice Cream shop for a treat!

This evening’s activity was ‘The Nightline’, an independent walk in the dark following a rope course through the trees. We had to identify 10 objects as we walked around.

 Day 1- Mountain and Mine

What an exciting first day!

Today we spent the day exploring mountains and mines in Wales. It was a tough day physically and emotionally but everyone challenged themselves!

Group E-  We entered the slate mine which had no natural light. We had to wear a safety helmet with a light on so we could see where we were going. We had to use a rope to pull ourselves up the slippery rocks and move up several levels to finally escape! We ate our lunch in the cave by candle light.

Group F- We spent the day climbing and clambering up 8 levels within a mine! We walked, rock climbed, waded through waterfalls and had a boat ride. The highlight of the day was a zip line across a cave pool!

It has been a very exhausting day and we are all ready for bed!

WE HAVE ARRIVED!

We arrived safe and sound at Dol-y-Moch this evening around half past 6. We have eaten dinner, settled into our dorms and collected all our kit. We are very excited to start our week of adventures! Hopefully we will have a good night’s sleep ready to begin day 1 tomorrow!
