** CORONAVIRUS UPDATE: School is open for all children** - Welcome to Little Heath Primary School, Ofsted rated GOOD 2017! Please explore our website to see what we are achieving; wider opportunities, sport, and helpful links. At Little Heath Primary School, we strive to make children feel safe, to achieve their full aspirations, and have the knowledge and skills to REACH their full potential.
W/C: 07/02/2022 - We have been having so much fun in year 5 and the children have been so engaged in their learning! The children loved their trip to the space centre, linked to their history and science topics. Their behaviour was exceptional and it was lovely to go on a school trip after such a long time. In art, the children have been learning about abstract art and recently enjoyed experimenting with a marbling technique to create these interesting patterns. They will use this technique to create a piece of art next week. The children found it very funny learning about ancient Egyptian remedies in history. Wyatt couldn’t believe it when he learnt that toothaches could be cured by eating fried mice! Michael said, “I have really enjoyed learning about squared and cubed numbers in maths because at the start it was really confusing but now it seems so simple to me!”
W/C: 17/01/2022 - We have had lots of fun since we returned to school! In history, we have been learning about the great space race and in science we have been learning about Earth and space. We have written diary entries and had debates about whether Laika the dog should have been sent to space. The children were very passionate about the treatment of animals and were pleased to know that this event shaped history. The children have written some super warning tales with lots of great description about their characters.
W/C 29/11/2021: In Willow we have been learning about 'Feasting' in DT and made dough to create bread. We looked at different types of plaiting, twisting and folding to shape our dough before baking it. In science, we have been learning all about forces. We have looked at gravity and the difference between mass and weight. We have also learnt about friction, testing different materials to create brake pads for the tricycles.
