The Saplings Programme is part of the Local Area SEND Partnership’s commitment to early intervention for children with additional needs and early communication difficulties. It aims to narrow the gap between children with SEND and their peers to help them to make accelerated progress from their personal starting point and be able to thrive in a mainstream classroom
The programme is delivered through a partnership between Coventry City Council SEND Service and Little Health Primary School. Children who enrol on the programme spend part of their reception year in a support base at Little Heath, before beginning a gradual transition into their registered school ready to begin Key Stage 1.
The programme is delivered by an experienced team, made up of a qualified teacher and two higher level teaching assistants. The programme is quality assured by the SEND Early Years Team, working in partnership with Little Heath School.
Children enrolled on the Saplings Programme access the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum, as well as tailored interventions.
